IECRC Milad Program- 26th & 27th February 2010 (Sacramento)

The term Maulud, Maulid, Milad Shareef refers to the celebration of the noble birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him, b. 570 CE) as the Light of Guidance for humanity in general and Muslims in particular.  Traditionally, Muslims always celebrated this day and the night before by remembering the life, events, character, and arrival of the Beloved of Allah, by keeping vigil, singing and reciting qasa’id/Naat (poems describing the attributes of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhe wasallam), ushering in the dawn, and fasting the day of his birth.  Homes and Masajid were decorated to express happiness.

Nisf-e-Shaaban – The Night of Absolution

Nisf-e-Shaaban – The Night of Absolution

Mehfil-e-Samaa on Urs of Hazrat Khawaja Muinuddin Chishti (ra), July 20, 2008 4pm-7pm – Fremont, CA

The IECRC will hold an ‘Urs (Commemoration) of the Great Wali (Saint) of Hind (India), Hazrat Khawaja Muniuddin Chishti (may God shower His Mercy on his soul). It is the great Blessing and Mercy of our Magnanimous Creator, Allah Almighty, that He has chosen from amongst His creation, pure and pious personalities to guide humanity. After the Seal of Prophethood, the Beloved, Holy Prophet Muhammad (may the prayers and peace of Allah Almighty be upon Him, His Blessed Family and Noble Companions) this task was given in the custody of the great Saints of the Islamic tradition – the Awliya Kiram, may Allah be well pleased with them all.

One of the shining luminaries in this constellation of Saints is the great Sultanul-Hind Hazrat Khawaja Muinuddin Hasan Chishti Sanjari Ajmeri famous as Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz (may Allah have mercy on him). Khawaja is a Persian word which means Master or Teacher.

As in the tradition of an ‘Urs, the IECRC will conduct a Mehfil-e-Samaa (Gathering of Audition) program in the Qawwali tradition at it Niles Zikr Hall, 37270 Niles Blvd, Fremont, CA between 4pm and 6pm on Sunday, July 20, 2008.
